Drag on Forever // Deidre & Farrah
farrah-tomlinson:
Farrah was feeling more and more nauseous with each bite, but she was forcing herself to chew and swallow. As of right now, she wasn’t feeling any better, if anything she was feeling worse with the nausea. She was going to finish it all just for Mace she decided, even if she hated every second of it. This was the price to pay when you drank as much as Farrah did. At the time it seemed worth it to drink until she blacked out, but in the morning she felt like an idiot for drinking that much. Still, she held out hope that maybe one day she’d wake up and she’d be fine because her body had finally adjusted to her lifestyle. But it never happened and it never would she really knew in the back of her mind.
She could tell Mace wasn’t comfortable in her room, she was a mess and Mace wasn’t. She looked down at the chaos all over room and twisted her face into a frown feeling sorry for the brunette. She pushed some of the stuff around with her feet and avoided Mace’s gaze. Beer? Beer was nothing to Farrah, it was like the appetizer before the full course meal. “Beer?” Farrah couldn’t help but open her mouth sounding flabbergasted. “Beer might as well be water, it doesn’t do a thing” she shrugged.
Farrah grinned at her, but her face immediately changed when she said Farrah had a problem. She looked away not wanting to hear much of what she had to say. She didn’t like the sound of that, problem. It was going to turn into an intervention just between the two of them. She wasn’t looking forward to it.
It was true it seemed like no one else cared that much about her drinking. They harassed her about it, saying she was just a drunk whore or some form of that. Especially Dare lately, but they never actually told her she had a real problem that needed to be helped. Maybe it was because they thought it was normal like Mace said or it was because they didn’t care to pay that close detail to Farrah’s life or health. Few people actually showed concern for her, she was still confused about how she should feel about the whole situation. Sooner or later it will destroy you. Was it true? She wasn’t sure if it really could be, sometimes she thought maybe she should be a little more careful and other times she thought it was all just a good time. “It’s not going to destroy me” she mumbled, still not looking at her.
“I do want to get better…I guess. But I really don’t think I have a problem, you shouldn’t worry about me. It’s just for fun, Mace. I just like to have a good time” She lied.
Deidre knew the food would make Farrah nauseous, but the best thing she could do right now was overcome the feeling of throwing up and swallow the food. She might not think about all the damage drinking as much alcohol as she did could do to her body, but eating and drinking a lot of water would soon get her strength back and she would begin to feel better. When the subject turned to how much, or better said, how little alcohol Deidre drank, she knew it would probably surprise Farrah, a girl who would drink a bottle after another of alcoholic drinks, that the young brunette didn’t drink alcohol. Just a little bit, but on rare occasions. “Exactly. Beer doesn’t do a thing” was her answer. “When I drink something I don’t abuse it and take all that I can until I black out. It’s just… it’s terribly unhealthy” she couldn’t help but look at the matter from the medical point of view.
When the conversation turned once more to the fact that Farrah drank alcohol excessively, Deidre tried to do it as gentler as possible, she didn’t want to sound too harsh on her friend but she still spoke the truth to her. An inconvenient truth perhaps Farrah wouldn’t want to accept. Her words confirmed that thought as she replied it wouldn’t destroy her. Deidre was still looking at her even if the blonde refused to turn back and face her. It was hard for her, Deidre knew it and she didn’t want to push the matter too much, she needed to handle things carefully if she really wanted to help her friend. This whole thing was beginning to turn into some sort appointment with a psychologist and even though Deidre studied medicine, or at least her first year, she was no psychologist and didn’t really know how was the right way to deal with people who had this sort of issues. Addictions.
“I know you do it for fun. I mean, what other reason do young people drink for?” Most teenagers and young adults drank at parties to have fun, that was clear and understandable. But alcohol shouldn’t be abused and drank in excess like Farrah did. “Look, I don’t have to tell you what to do. I don’t even have right to tell you what to do. I’m just a friend, but I’m worried. Please be careful, Farrah. You know it’s not normal that you drink this much and it isn’t good for you” Deidre got up from where she was sitting and went to the door. Right now wasn’t the moment to talk about Farrah’s drinking problem, she wasn’t ready to face the truth and it would do her some good to sit there and think about it on her own. “If you even want to talk about this again you know that I’m willing to help you all the way. Friends aren’t just around for the good times, they stick around the bad ones as well. And friends tell the truth, even if it hurts”
